It is Italy that reigns in the ladder of sparkling wines. The local prosecco became the best-selling and overtook the legendary champagne. Let his best representatives entice you too!

Prosecco - enjoy real dolce vita with it

You can meet him in almost every household in the north of Italy, during a family lunch, a romantic dinner, but also a garden party. In short, Prosecco was able to conquer consumers with a more conservative taste, even those who like to discover.

What prosecco is and how it is made

This is a traditional sparkling wine made from the Glera variety. It must have at least 85% representation. It is characterized by a refreshing and light fruity character. Expect tones of citrus, apricots, apples and pears. It goes well with virtually any menu, including dessert, and will also serve as an aperitif.

We have included representatives from smaller wineries in the Veneto and Friuli regions in our portfolio. Enjoy them at great prices!

Prosecco: species

You will most often find a division according to the residual sugar content into the following types:

  • Extra gross: 0-6 gr / l

  • Gross: 0-12 gr / l

  • Extra dry: 12-17 gr / l

  • Dry: 17-32 gr / l

  • Demi-sec: 32-50 gr / l

  • Dolce: more than 50 g / l

Interestingly, Extra dry accounts for about 70% of production, which is in line with the current trend of popularity of drier wines.

How to serve prosecco wine

It tastes best ice-cold to 5 to 7 ° C in the company of fish and seafood, even sushi. It is suitable for everyday drinking and as an integral part of the Aperol Spritz cocktail.

Prosecco: price

One factor that undoubtedly contributes to its popularity is its affordability. Especially if we compare the amounts with those for which champagne is commonly sold. You can get a great prosecco from as little as € 5.

If you are looking for real gems, then pay attention to the DOCG label - in Italy indicating the highest level of quality. This is associated with very strict production criteria, which are checked by a special commission of the Ministry of Agriculture. You will find several such wines in our menu as well!
