Gewürztraminer (Red Traminer) - an attractive wine with a spicy taste and mysterious origin

Gewürztraminer (Traminer red) - about the variety

The origin of this grape variety is still shrouded in mystery. It was most likely created by crossing several varieties that have not survived to the present day; according to modern scientific tests, it is, among other things, close to wild forest vines. Formerly the original locality of its cultivation was the area of northern Italy, today we believe that its cradle lies in the area between northeastern France and southeastern Germany. After all, it is still very popular in Alsace.

What is the characteristic of this wine

Despite the name, you will recognize the Tramín červený variety due to its strong golden yellow color. It belongs to wines with a strong spicy aroma. Its taste is also rich, in which tones of exotic fruits, apricots or spices such as cinnamon can be indicated. This mixture of aromas and taste sensations fully stands out in dry wines, where they are not dampened by higher sugar content.
