This vine comes from the French region of Médoc. Today it is also grown in Italy, where it spread in the middle of the 19th century. However, interest in Malbec in Europe is declining and is being replaced by more tradable Cabernet and Merlot. He is currently finding adoptive soil in Argentina, where he is the most cultivated variety of red grapes.
