Nebbiolo - about the vine variety
This vine creates a very strong bond with the territory, so much so that apart from Piedmont and Lombardy, we will not find another environment that would allow its cultivation. The best conditions are found in the Langhe, more precisely in the Barolo and Barbaresco (Piedmont) and Valtellina (Lombardy) areas. Outside these areas, Nebbiolo grapes no longer have the thickness, strength and "nobility" that make it unique in the world. In fact, it is a relatively sensitive vine with very late ripening; the grapes are not harvested until the end of October, when the vineyards are covered with morning mist. Hence perhaps its poetic name ("nebbia" = fog)
Who will love these wines?
Nebbiolo wines are characterized by elegant color, delicate aroma and tannic structure. It enchants with a floral scent with a hint of rose and violet, which harmoniously complements the fruit tones. You will especially feel wild strawberries, raspberries and cherry jam; By maturing, he can get cloves, black pepper and nutmeg on a spicy note. But it can also surprise with the sweet smell of chocolate. After tasting, there are pronounced tannins. Nevertheless, these wines are warm and soft on the palate, slightly persistent.

Due to their structure, these wines are especially suitable for more complex meat dishes with strong flavors, including game. It goes well with grilled, cooked and roasted meat. It goes well with mature cheeses, as well as typical representatives of Italian cuisine - lasagna and pizza. Don't be afraid to try this combination!
