Negroamaro is an impenetrable dark red wine that surrounds you with a strong fruity aroma and taste with a slightly bitter aftertaste. Will this wine with a strong personality find its way into your hearts?
Negroamaro - characteristics of the variety
Its origins are literally ancient; after all, its roots could be traced back to the Greek colonization of the ancient world in the 18th century BC. At present, together with Primitivo, he rules the vineyards of the Italian region of Puglia. For many years, its grapes have been used for vinification in a mixture with Primitivo, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot or Malvasia. But we would also find fantastic representatives vinified in purity. Negroamaro owes its name to the almost black color of the wines it produces, as well as its bitter flavors. She may not appeal to everyone, but the crowd of her lovers is really long!
Who will enjoy this wine
The wines made from these grapes are complex, fruity, with hints of black cherry, strawberry, blueberry and plum, which complement the floral tones of violet. But you can also feel the spicy smell of tobacco and carob, even vanilla or menthol, in the ripe pieces. On the palate, Negroamaro wines are harmonious, warm and soft with good persistence. Thanks to its distinctive acidity, its grapes are also suitable for the production of sparkling and rosé wines. These can be really fantastic and become an interesting alternative to other sparkling classics!
Combining wine with food
You can enjoy Negroamaro in combination with pasta-based dishes. Its combination with popular lasagna is especially recommended. It is definitely worth trying in the company of red meat, whether grilled, roasted or cooked (so-called "bollito").
